ASSEMBLY

A live/work space for artists in St. Just, Penwith, Cornwall. Assembly is a former Wesleyan chapel, in the centre of the UK's most westerly mainland town.

Assembly is approximately 2500 square feet spread over a ground floor and a mezzanine level. There is also a self-contained annexe, two small garden areas and outside work space.

Assembly is not funded. We ask for a contribution to the space from people who use it for living or working. Studio provision at Assembly is flexible open space on the ground and mezzanine floors. Assembly can accomodate up to 8 people for short periods, such as long weekends. Two or three artists could stay for longer periods of work. The space is arranged to be as flexible as possible, and suit a variety of disciplines. There is desk space, study areas, open plan studios and some space outside.

Assembly has hosted talks and discussions involving large numbers ofartists and curators from the local area and further afield. Assembly hosted a field trip and the evaluation meeting for The Falmouth Convention.

Arts collectives, individual artists from all disciplines, and writers have worked in Assembly. Assembly is family friendly. It's easy to spend time working on a residency here with children of any age.
